Spottr Redesign: Helping Users Find More, Faster

The Problem
Sellers were listing their products on Spottr but had a hard time getting noticed. Buyers, on the other hand, struggled to find what they needed—there were no easy ways to filter by location, quantity, or product type.
What We Found
The Search and Discover pages were cluttered and repetitive. Instead of helping users, they made the experience feel slow and frustrating on both ends.
What Users Told Us
Sellers wanted better visibility and a way to track how their products were performing. Buyers just wanted faster, smarter ways to discover relevant items nearby.
Redesign Process
Card Sorting
We ran an internal card sorting workshop with the customer success and product teams. We reorganized the Discover screen by user intent Top Sellers, Best Rated, and Trending ensuring each card had a strong visual presence, supported by clear CTAs.
User Feedback
From interviews and quick surveys, we learned:
“The search feels very plain. I want to see sellers I can trust or ads that look active.”
“Too many repeated items on the search result page. Can it be smarter?”
We used this feedback to simplify the layout and restructure the listing hierarchy.
The MVP
We launched a cleaner Discover screen organized into four collapsible sections:
Top Sellers (driven by ratings + purchase history)
Best Rating
Trending Items
The Search screen was simplified to eliminate duplicates, group similar listings together, and highlight critical info (location, price, quantity) upfront.
We introduced badges (e.g. “Held for same seller”) and subtle status indicators for availability and seller type.
